Christy Walton, Wal-Mart Heiress And Richest Woman In America, Lists Wyoming Estate For $12.5 Million

Christy Walton, the richest woman in America, is selling her incredible Jackson Hole, WY-area home for $12.5 million. Walton is the widow of John T. Walton, one of the sons of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton. Christy Walton inherited her wealth when her husband, a former Green Beret and Vietnam war medic, died in a tragic airplane crash in 2005.

According to Forbes, she is the #6 richest person in the United States and #11 on their list of global billionaires. She spends her time giving generously to philanthropic causes, including The Philanthropy RoundtableThe San Diego Natural History Museum where she is a board member, the San Diego Zoological Society and the Mingei International Museum, as well as her family’s own charitable foundation, the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation, which prioritizes education and benefits colleges such as the University of Arkansas, the College of Business Administration of the University of Arkansas, and several other colleges, community trusts, universities and foundations.

When she’s not doing good with her vast riches, Walton resides in the picturesque Jackson Hole, WY-area. Now, she has just listed her 2.45 acre luxurious and private estate bordering Ellen Creek with direct access to the national forest and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

An ‘architectural masterpiece,’ the fully-furnished home incorporates traditional alpine-style with European details, including imported stone pavers, 200 year old reclaimed oak floors, cathedral ceilings and hand-crafted Albertini windows.

Adding to the picture-perfect details, Ellen Creek meanders through the grounds, past wildflowers, against the panoramic backdrop, creating small ponds and waterways. Aside from the main residence’s 6 bedrooms, a small summer guest cabin, built circa 1906, offers 2 extra bedrooms. Additional amenities include a 3-car attached, heated garage and driveway and hydronic in-floor heat for cold winters.

Fiercely private, property records show Walton holds this home is a blind trust located in Bentonville, AR, but her name has appeared on building permits for this address.

Also for sale nearby, The Walton Ranch, which just came on the market with a $68,700,000 price tag.
